As soon as the display shows rdY again, you can lock in the portafilter with the coffee and continue with
the extraction at the desired temperature.

Preinfusion PI
The MECHANIKA MAX has various settings for preinfusion. Under the menu item PI, the preinfusion can be
switched on or off with values optimised for a double shot. Optional settings can be found in the Advanced
User Settings; these can be found under 8.2.
Some roasts (mostly lighter roasts) have a tendency to (what is often called) 'channel'. In addition to a
detailed preparation of the ground coffee (grinding, distributing, and tamping), it is helpful in such cases to
use a so-called preinfusion. In this process, the ground coffee is completely infused with water once before
extraction continues at a high pressure.
There are different options for preinfusion. The Mechanika Max has a mechanical preinfusion chamber that
keeps the pressure increase low at the beginning of the espresso extraction. If this preinfusion is not
sufficient, it is possible to influence the preinfusion actively (with pump activity) and/or passively (without
pump activity).

ECO mode
The ECO mode offers the possibility to set an automatic switch-off after a longer period of machine
inactivity. The factory setting is 90 min. This activates a countdown after the last brewing process, which
switches off the heating after 90 minutes have elapsed.
This countdown runs automatically in the background and is not visible via any display. Reactivation, after
the machine has been switched off by the countdown, is done by pressing one of the buttons or by operating
the brewing lever. Press and hold the

button to switch the machine directly to EcoMode. An alternating
dot in the display indicates Eco Mode.
To programme the ECO mode, please proceed as follows:
1.

The time is adjustable from 0 to 600 min. After the last extraction,
the machine starts counting down the set time and then switches
off automatically when the desired time is reached. The selection
is confirmed after 3 seconds. After a short wait, the menu will be
exited automatically.
e.g.: You have programmed 120 min, then the machine switches
off two hours after the last use. In addition to brewing, pressing
any button will also interrupt the countdown.
