It should also be remembered that the radio waves are dampened by walls and other obstacles. The
least dampening walls are made of plasterboard and wood, and the most are made of reinforced
concrete containing a metal mesh.
The power losses after passing through various construction materials are shown below (
NOTE:
simplified drawing - it should be remembered that radio waves propagate in multiple directions).
Plasterboard or wood
Loss: 0-10%
Concrete or bricks
Loss: 5-35%
Reinforced concrete or metal substrate
Loss: 30-90%

Location of wireless detectors
When installing devices using radio transmission, there are a few general installation rules that should
be taken into account:
installation away from large-size metal objects and large magnetic fields,
Installation at least 1 meter from the floor (exception is the GS-22 gas detector, which should be
installed NOT higher than 30-50cm above floor level),
installation away from objects that restrict the visibility of the controlled zone and disturb the
reception of the image.
More detailed guidelines on the installation of specific detectors can be found in the instructions that
come with the devices.
