Opening the Enclosure
The CM52 enclosure incorpo rates a hinge
design, which is separate from the door bolt
hardware.

make sure that each bolt has b een
fully ext ended b efore attempting to swing the
door open. Having completed that, the door can
be swung into its full position.
NOTE: With the door closed and the door
hardware lagged down, the hinge and door lifting
attachments can be switched fo r opposite door
opening, without breaking the door seal. The
outside operating handl e and associated s witch,
mounted inside the enclosure, can be switched to
the opposite side once the door has been opened.
2.1 CM52 NETWORK PROTECTORS
The complete network unit consists of the air
circuit breaker and its associated relaying
equipment consisting of four major elements.
2.1.1 Cassette Frame
The supporting structure of the break er and relay
module is mounted directly in the enclosure.
2.1.2
Circuit Breaker
Each contains arc chut es, contact system, current
trans formers, primary and secondary disconnect
2.1.2.1 Arc chutes
Arc Chutes are designed and construct ed to
entrap the splitter plates.
A single captive hold-down s crew is located in
the rear o f each arc chute to facilitate its
removal.

2.1.2.3 Operating Mechanism
The operating mechanism , located on the front
of th e circuit break er, consists o f an indep endent
spring-closing mechanism; spring charging
motor, and trip device.
2.1.2.4 Control Module
The control module consists o f switch es; rel ays,
trans former and secondary disconnect points. It
is electrically connected to the operating
mechanism by plugs and sockets.
Relay Module Layout
The relay module of the CM52 has a swing open
front pan el that p ermits the replacement o f the
CPT, PT’s (480V) and all o f the rel ay module
control wiring. The hinged front pan el has the
mounting of the MPC series relay and the Test
switch.
Once the front panel has b een swung open, the
Auxiliary Switch and Secondary Connection
Block is mounted in the lower center portion of
the rel ay module, see figu re 6. This device is a
DIN rail mounted terminal block. All o f the
factory wiring has been made on the rear ports o f
