2.4 Timing Belt Tension
At the middle of the belt section S the timing belt must bend in 13 mm
under the test load FV = 500g.
Consequences of too high timing belt tension:

Reduced life
–
Running noises
Consequences of too low timing belt tension:
–
No flawless tooth interlocking between the belt teeth and the pulley
teeth
–
Jumping of the teeth under load
–
Attach the test load in the middle the timing belt (e.g. with the aid
of a spring scale).
The timing belt is correctly tensioned when the upper half of the
belt just touches the lower half of the belt.
To correct:
–
Correct the timing belt tension at nut 2.
The nut 2 is equipped with a self-locking thread.
