–
DC18 RC is a charger exclusively used for Makita batteries. Do not use it for other purposes.
–
When the battery is charged right after the use or the battery left for a long period of time in a
place exposed to direct sunlight is charged, the charging indication red lamp may repeat flashing.
In that case, start charging the battery after cooling down by the cooling fan built in the charger.-
when the charging indication red and green lamps repeat flashing in turn after charting the
charging and electric buzzer beeps for about 20 seconds, the battery cannot be charged due to
the end of the battery life or clogging.
–
When the battery is continuously charged, the charging time may be prolonged.
–
With the automatic maintenance function, the charging time varies depending on the ambient
temperature (10℃ to 40℃) or the battery condition.
–
If the following case occurs, the charger or the battery may be malfunctioning. Please take both the
charger and the battery to the distributor.
×
When the charger plug is connected to the 120V power supply, the indication green lamp does not
flash.
×
When the battery is inserted in the charger, the indication red lamp does not turn on or flash.
×
Charging is not completed after more than 1 hour after the indication red lamp turns on. (The Cooling system)
–
Non- rechargeable batteries cannot be charged with this battery charger.
–
Do not charge the battery cartridge in presence of flammable liquids or gases.
–
Do not expose charger to rain or snow.
–
Never carry charger by cord or yank it to disconnect from receptacle.
–
After charging or before attempting any maintenance or cleaning, unplug the charger from the power source.
Pull by plug rather than cord whenever disconnecting charger.
–
Make sure cord is located so that it will not be stepped on, tripped over, or otherwise subjected to damaged or
stress.
–
Young children should be supervised to ensure that they do not play with the battery charger.
–
Do not attempt to use a step-up transformer, an engine generator or DC power receptacle.
–
Do not allow anything to cover or clog the charger vents.
CAUTION
–
This is a system to efficiently cool the battery with the cooling fan built in the charger in order to have the
battery fully exercise. The fan may sound, but it is not broken.
–
When sufficient cooling is not conducted due to malfunction of the cooling fan or the clogged charger or
battery, the yellow lamp flashes to indicate the cooling system error. Charging can be performed during the
cooling system error, charging time may become longer. In this case, check if the air vent of the charger and
the battery is blocked or the air blowing sound is heard.
–
Air blowing sound may not be heard during charging, but if the yellow lamp is not flashing, the cooling fan
is not malfunctioning. Charging is sometimes conducted with the cooling fan stopped.
–
Do not block the air vent of the charger and the battery.
–
If the yellow lamp frequently flashes, contact us for inspection or repair.

Cooling systems
–
The advantage of this function is to perform optimal charging depending on the battery usage state so
that the battery life is kept long.
–
When the following 1 to 4 condition occurs, battery life may be reduced. Therefore, the yellow lamp turns
on during charging, and charging time may be prolonged.
1. Repeating charging at hot temperature
2. Repeating charging at low temperature
3. Repeating charging the fully charged battery
4. Repeating overdischarge (Overdischarge is a condition that the unit is used after spraying power
becomes weak.)
