Operation and Maintenance

Measurement and Inspection of Major Parts

Printed in Mar. 2005 PS-MMA0608-E1A

3.2.5. Cam shaft

1) Axial end play

Push the camshaft toward the

crankshaft

pulley side.

Place a dial gauge onto the

camshaft gear.

Measure the camshaft's axial

end play, moving the camshaft

gear by means of a driver.

Standard

0.10

～

0.55 mm

If excessive end play, assemble it by means of other thrust washer.

2) Inspection and measurement of camshaft

Visual check

With inspecting the cam surface for any damage with naked eyes and correct

any minor scratch by means of an oil stone grinding and if severe, replace it.

Cam lobe height and cam journal diameter

Use a micrometer to measure

the cam lobe height and journal

diameter.

If the measured number is less

than the specified limit, the

camshaft must

replaced.
