Disconnect RED cable clamp from positive ter-
minal on disabled vehicle.
TOWING
STANDARD PROCEDURE - TOWING
CAUTION: Towing with equipment other than flat
bed types may damage your vehicle.
Do not tow with sling type equipment. Only use
flat bed equipment. Always comply with applicable
state or local towing ordinances.
To avoid damage to bumper fascia and air dams
use of a flat bed towing device is recommended. If a
flat bed device is used, the approach angle should not
exceed 15 degrees. Use only the reinforced elongated
holes located in front of the front suspension on the
side of frame rail to secure vehicle to flat bed. Use
only the reinforced elongated holes located rearward
of the rear suspension on the side of frame rail to
secure vehicle to flat bed. Secure vehicle to flat bed
at all four corners of frame to avoid towing damage.
WARNING: DO NOT ALLOW TOWING ATTACHMENT
DEVICES TO CONTACT THE FUEL TANK OR LINES,
FUEL LEAK CAN RESULT. DO NOT LIFT OR TOW
VEHICLE
BY FRONT OR REAR BUMPER, OR
BUMPER ENERGY ABSORBER UNITS. DO NOT
VENTURE UNDER A LIFTED VEHICLE IF NOT SUP-
PORTED PROPERLY ON SAFETY STANDS. DO NOT
ALLOW PASSENGERS TO RIDE IN A TOWED VEHI-
CLE.
CAUTION: Do not damage brake lines, exhaust sys-
tem, shock absorbers, sway bars, or any other
under vehicle components when attaching towing
device to vehicle. Remove or secure loose or pro-
truding objects from a damaged vehicle before tow-
ing. Refer to state and local rules and regulations
before towing a vehicle. Do not allow weight of
towed vehicle to bear on lower fascia, air dams, or
spoilers.
VEHICLE STORAGE
STANDARD PROCEDURE
VEHICLE PREPARATION
For short term storage refer to Owner’s Man-
ual.
On a vehicle that is to be stored for 90 days or
longer the following procedures are recommended to
minimize environmental effects on mechanical com-
ponents and painted or upholstered surfaces.
•
Store vehicle in a well ventilated dry location.
•
Vehicle must be dry before it is stored.
•
If storage area is subjected to below freezing
temperatures, place 3 mills plastic sheeting under
vehicle. Plastic sheeting will serve as a barrier for
condensate water that could form on a cold floor dur-
ing temperature fluctuations.
Position vehicle as far away from continuously run-
ning electric motors as possible to reduce rubber
component degradation. Electrical activity creates
ozone which will cause rubber to deteriorate.
ENGINE COMPONENT PREPARATION
For short term storage refer to Owner’s Man-
ual.
On a vehicle that is to be stored for 90 days or
longer the following procedures are recommended to
minimize environmental effects on mechanical com-
ponents.
•
Verify that the cooling system is protected to
-28° C (-20° F) regardless of the temperature in the
storage area. Antifreeze coolant limits corrosion of
cooling system components.
•
Change engine oil and filter to remove possible
contamination that could cause corrosion or sludge in
crankcase.
