Job Information
The Steering Tool Job Information dialog box allows you to edit such fixed data as the typical rod length,
the reference heading, the reference elevation, and the relative position of the tool at entry. There are
three ways to open the Steering Tool Job Information dialog box:
Select the
Job Information
…
command in the
Edit
menu.
Click on the job information icon on the toolbar.
Double-click anywhere in the job information field of the application window.
The Steering Tool Job Information dialog box also automatically launches after a new job is created.

You must enter a typical rod length (cannot be 0) in the Rod Length Information field. The rod length units
may be feet (ft) or meters (m) and can be changed in the
Edit | Display Units
menu.
In the Reference Heading area, enter the same reference heading value (unit in degrees) that you have
set in the remote display (it can be 0). To use the heading recorded at Rod 0 as the reference heading,
check the box next to “Use Rod 0 Ref. Hdg.”
In the Survey Point Elevation Change area of the dialog box, the elevation units may be feet (ft) or meters
(m) and can be changed and can be changed in the
Edit | Display Units
menu. Check the box next to
“Do Not Use Reference Elevation” if the bore is not to be mapped in reference to a surveyed elevation
marker near the bore. This value will appear in the profile chart title line.
If the drill enters the ground at some elevation other than the ground topography at the start of a bore, in
a pit for example, then enter the depth deviation from the ground (the 0 reference line of the profile view
of the bore) next to “Rel. Elev. At Entry” (-2 in the example above).
If the drill enters the ground at some distance left, L, or right, R, of where the reference heading was set,
enter the lateral distance of
the offset next to “Lat. Offset At Entry” (5 R in the example above).
