8.3.1.1:
Microphone Wiring Suggestions:
•
Use dual microphones for stereo recording (one microphone, connected to the left channel, can
optionally be used)
•
Use three-conductor microphone elements for connection to “+”, “O”, and “-“ terminals
(recommend Knowles EK-3033 elements)
•
Use elements that can be powered by filtered 1.2-1.4VDC source
•
Use low-profile microphones and assemblies with minimized sharp edges to reduce the chances
of detection in a pat-down search
•
Use isolation mounts designed for attachment to clothing and/or skin for minimization of
“rubbing” noise
•
Use small-diameter, shielded cabling to wire microphones to connector
•
Use a suitable length wire for ankle-mounted recorder, microphones mounted to chest (~ 6 ft.)
•
Ground the wiring shields at SSABR G2 connector
•
Use rugged packaging, serviceable connections in the event of wire breaks
When either installing OR REMOVING the
external harness, it is recommended that the
remote control switch should be set to the
OFF position.
