SSABR G2 EXTERNAL MICROPHONE/SWITCH HARNESS
8.1
MICROPHONE, EXTERNAL POWER, AND REMOTE SWITCH CONNECTOR TYPE
The type of connector used with the SSABR G2 for connecting remote microphone, external power,
and a remote control switch is the Telocate Systems, Inc. part number JT4FP. This connector may be
purchased from Digital Audio Corporation or directly from Telocate Systems, Inc. For more
information contact Digital Audio Corporation. When wiring the connectors, where possible, make
all connections serviceable for the event of a wire break.

Figure 8-1: SSABR G2 External Power and Switch Connector
The Remote Switch Connector attaches to the middle of the three gold colored connectors on the
SSABR G2 Unit (see Figure 2-1.) Figure 8-1 shows the pin-out of the 4-pin connector. Notice that
the perspective of the diagram is from the viewpoint of someone looking directly into the mating end of
the connector.
8.2.1
External Power
When supplying remote power to the SSABR G2 unit, ensure that the power source supplies between
9-15 VDC and can provide up to 1 Amp of current. Make sure that the GND pin is connected to
GND of the external power supply.
8.2.2
Remote Control Switch
An external control switch can be used to start and stop the recording process on the SSABR G2. Both
momentary (push-button) switches and slide switches can be used. Only a 2-wire connection to
SSABR G2 connector is needed. Suggestions:
•
Use a high-confidence on-off “slide” switch for best reliability
•
Only a 2-wire connection to SSABR G2 connector is needed
•
Use suitable length wire for ankle-mounted recorder, switch inside shirtsleeve near wrist (~ 8 ft.)
•
Where possible use a “commitment” shield, which will allow easy “turn-on” but very difficult
“turn-off”
•
Use rugged packaging, serviceable connections in the event of wire breaks
