Removing the Slot Retainer Bracket
Depending on the design of the platform, you may need to remove the slot retainer bracket
from the inside edge of the linecard. Refer to Figure 1, Figure 2, or Figure 3 for the location
of the slot retainer bracket.
To remove the slot retainer bracket:

If the platform is designed for…
Then…
PCI cards only
Remove the slot retainer bracket from the
end of the card before installing it.
ISA and PCI cards
Leave the slot retainer bracket attached.
The slot retainer bracket allows you to
install the card in a platform that contains
both ISA and PCI slots (where the PCI
slots use the ISA form factor).
