"DrPrimescan" Primescan diagnostics program
Background
The "DrPrimescan" diagnostics program makes it possible to test, in an
easy manner, whether the Primescan scanner can be operated on an
acquisition unit (AC) and whether the Primescan scanner functions
correctly. The program works as stand-alone software with this and is
independent of any calibration of the scanner or of the product software
installed on the unit. The program sequence and the output it produces,
and if applicable the errors and their possible causes, are described
below.
Start and sequence
A link to launch the program can be found in the "Dentsply Sirona
Tools" folder in the start menu. After starting the program, a console
window opens, with information regarding the program version, and the
date this version was created. Subsequently, the program searches for
a connected Primescan scanner. As soon as this search is successful,
a corresponding note is displayed and the scanner is accessed. The ID
for the camera electronics is then displayed and the camera is started. If
the DrPrimescan program finds firmware (FW) on the Primescan
scanner that it does not recognize, then this firmware is overwritten with
the firmware used by DrPrimescan. (If CEREC needs/supports a later
version of the FW, then the firmware is automatically updated to the
corresponding version when the unit is next launched.) The FW
versions found on the Primescan scanner are then displayed.
A series of self-tests then take place for the Primescan scanner. The
following elements are specifically tested:
● the I
2
C components,
● the 2D sensor,
● the 3D sensor.

If "OK" is stated after each of the tests as displayed in Figure 1, it can
be assumed that the tested components are in good working order.
