When picking up containers (eg a drum from a wooden pallet) consider any static charge present and the
resulting dangers. Suitable equipotential bonding must be ensured. Observe TRBS 2153.
−
Move up to the drum slowly, pick it up and ensure when doing so that you keep well below a speed of
1m/sec (3.6 km/h).
-
Regularly check the equipment for damage, corrosion and dirt. Remedy these faults immediately. Do not
apply any additional paint to the equipment.
-
Check regularly that all mounting and safety components are securely mounted.
-
When replacing components, only use DENIOS original replacement parts. Using unsuitable replacement
parts will invalidate Ex suitability and forfeit the warranty.
-
Change fittings only outside of the Ex zone, eg when fitting another drum gripper. This also applies to
maintenance, cleaning and adjustment operations.
-
Regularly check the bearings and grease if necessary.
-
The strap must be regularly checked for material fatigue.
-
Operate the ratchet for the strap slowly..
3. Use and intended purpose
The drum turner consists of a robust, welded steel-tube frame. The drum turner is used for picking 60 - 220
litre drums (steel and plastic) and tilting them to a horizontal position or raising them to a vertical position.
Only use plastic drums with sufficient rigidity.
Also supplied is a securing chain which allows the drum turner to be operated safely.
4. Specifications
Safe working load: 300 kg
5. Operation
To take the drum turner SV into operation, the drum turner SV must as far as possible be attached to the
forks of the fork lift truck and secured firmly to the fork lift truck with the safety chain.
The crank handle supplied separately must be mounted once with screw and washer before taking into use.
Lifting the drum
1. Bring the drum gripper up to the middle of the drum to be picked up
2. Fit the V-jaws midway between the beads.
3. Place the strap around the drum to be lifted and tighten with ratchet.
4. Lift drum
Rotating the drum
1. Turning the crank handle causes the drum to turn slowly.
Attention! From the vertical position you only can turn the drum forward
2. 110 revolutions correspond to around half drum rotation (180°).
Transport
Only transport drums picked up at walking pace
In potentially explosive areas keep to a driving speed of less than 1 m/s to avoid sparking.
Manoeuvre over uneven ground very carefully!
Lowering the drum
Setting drum upright
Drum can now be lowered
Release the ratchet and remove the strap
Drum turner is ready for the next handling operation
Hazard sources
1. It is prohibited to operate the drum turner SV without a safety chain secured!
2. Never release the strap in the lifted position!
3.
Do not walk under suspended loads!
