1. General Instructions
No modifications or alterations can be made to the product without authorisation from the manufacturer, in the
event of this, the guarantee will be invalidated.
National standards and safety regulations must be observed.
2. Safety instructions
Any person working with the product is required to have familiarized him/herself with the contents of the
instructions for use.
Before the product is used, it is to be checked for correct functioning. Should any defects appear, it must not be
used!
-
The German regulations BGV D8 (hoisting, lifting and winching equipment) and BGV B1 (handling
dangerous materials) and BGR 500 (load suspension devices in lifting appliance operation) are to be
observed!
-
Do not walk under suspended loads!
-
Only use for the intended purpose!
-
The bearing capacity given must not be exceeded!
Additional notes for use in Ex zones
!!!Warning: Only the drum turner version SV-Ex is suitable for use in Ex zones!!!
−
Remove the packaging only in an area which is not defined as an Ex zone.
−
During the handling, storage and dispensing of substances which can create an explosive atmosphere,
the requirements of ATEX Directives 94/9/EC and 1999/92/EC must be observed in addition to the 11th
Machinery Safety Law (GSGV) and the Industrial Safety Regulations (BetrSichV). Depending on the Ex-
zone, suitable protective measures are to be taken.
Emphasis must be laid on preventing a build-up of explosive atmosphere by altering the concentration
(eg ensuring sufficient ventilation), operating conditions, and facilities organisation (eg using suitable and
approved containers, suitable storage facilities).
−
It must be ensured that sources of ignition caused by electrostatic charges are avoided by using
electrical equipotential bonding. Mechanically produced sparks must be avoided by using suitable
tooling, transport and loading equipment for example. Sources of thermal ignition must be avoided by
using suitable techniques, prevention of friction, lightening protection, and the prohibition of open flames,
open lights and smoking. Organisational measures such as the identification of areas, implementation of
warning signs and access prevention for unauthorised personnel are required.
−
Equipment must be maintained in good condition, operated correctly and regularly inspected. Any
necessary repairs must be carried out immediately. Repairs which may affect the explosion protection of
a piece of equipment must only be carried out by the manufacturer.
−
Electrical conductivity can be changed by the depositing of hindering substances and also by chemical and
mechanical influences, in such a way that the permitted values laid down in the standards are exceeded. In
particular, dust, dirt, paint, acids and alkalis can reduce or completely prevent the conduction of
electrical/electrostatic energy to the floor.
−
The flooring in potentially explosive areas must be electrically conductive and kept clean.
−
Because there are so many unknown factors affecting the use of our products, our warranty with respect to
electrical conductivity relates exclusively to compliance with the permitted values laid down in the standards
in new condition on delivery. The user is fully responsible for ensuring constant observation of technical
safety regulations such as compliance with the values for electrical conductivity in use. Check effectiveness
at regular intervals.
−
Check that the coating on the load bearing parts of the equipment is in perfect condition. If corrosion is
present, the equipment may not be used.
Storage requirements as per TRGS 510 must be observed.
−
When using the forklift attachment in an Ex zone, only electrically conductive or dissipative drums may be
used. All objects which come into contact with the forklift attachment must be electrically conductive or
dissipative.
