1. BEFORE USING THE PRODUCTS FOR THE FIRST TIME
Remove the packaging and all the labels. Any adhesive residue from the labels can be
removed with acetone or a nail polish remover product. Wash the product in warm water
and dish liquid, then rinse and dry thoroughly.
2. TIPS FOR USING THE PRODUCT
• Vessel Placement: Place the pot/pan on a cooking ring that best fits the diameter of
the product's base:
- For gas: Ensure the flame is under the center of the base of the pan.
- For electric hobs/elements: Select a cooking ring that has the same diameter as the
base of the pan, or a slightly smaller diameter.
- For induction: Select a cooking zone that has the same diameter as the base of the
pan, or a slightly smaller or larger diameter. [If cooking on an induction hob with
invisible cooking zones: it is important to place the cookware in the middle of an
inductor. You should try to find out where exactly the inductors are. Usually, the
technical drawing delivered with your stove provides this information.]
Attention:
to avoid local overheating, do not use the Demeyere cookware of 28
cm/11” and 32 cm/12.6” on cooking rings with a diameter smaller than 18 cm/7.1”
and 22 cm/8.7” respectively!
• Temperature Control: Temperature control is very important. Demeyere products can
withstand high temperatures; however, stainless steel will discolor at temperatures
above 350°C/650°F. Due to the quality of the Demeyere cookware, it is important to
always cook over a medium heat. Normal boiling temperature is 100°C/200°F and the
required temperature for frying is between 175°C/345°F and 230°C/450°F. Frying pans
with non-stick coating are safe to use up to 230°C/450°F, but cannot withstand the
high temperatures of a grill.
Attention:
induction hobs develop a very intensive heat in a very short time.
Cookware will heat up very quickly on induction. Keep a close eye on the temperature
control, especially when cooking on induction for the first time. Only use the ‘Booster’
or ‘Power’ function for heating large quantities of fluids.
• Frying Tips: A safe and healthy way to fry is by following this procedure:
Put some oil in the pan and place the pan over a high heat, but not at full heat
(approx. 80 to 90% of full heat – if using induction, do not use the 'Booster' or
'Power' function).
- If using butter or margarine: Melt the butter or margarine. After the foam has settled
down, lower the temperature by 20 to 30% and wait 10 seconds before placing the
ingredients in the pan.
- If using oil: When the oil starts to 'ripple', lower the temperature by 20 to 30% and
again wait 10 seconds before placing the ingredients in the pan.
