Avoid Special Characters in Preset and Curves Names
To avoid unreadable characters, it is recommended that Spyder3Print Slider Presets
and Photoshop Curves Sets be names with unaccented English text characters only.
Historic Tinted Black and White
Black and white photographs were created by numerous methods, many of which
produced images with unique color tints; most notably Sepia. Even neutral gray prints
from silver geletin processes could be tinted after completion by soaking the images in
various chemicals. Certain tints effected the entire image, others were more noticable
in the highlights, while others effected the darker tones. Multiple tints used on the
same image are called cross-tints.
All of these effects, global tints, highlight or shadow tints, and various cross-tints can
all be emulated through profile tinting in Spyder3Print.
Using Spyder3Print Slider Presets
There are a wide range of useful Presets for tinted black and white printing in the
Slider Preset popdown list on the Build Profile Setup screen. Many of these are
arranged in a scale from cool, through neutral, to carbon, then sepia; from cool to
warm, the names are: Cool2, Cool1, NeutralMinus, NeutralPlus, Carbon1, Carbon2,
Sepia1, Sepia2. Other presets offer cross-tints; CrossTint1 has yellow highlights, sepia
midtones, and more purple in the shadows. This is a traditional landscape crosstint.
CrossTint2 offers a more subtle range with cool highlights, for use with snow or clouds
