9.3.1
Configuring the DIS as a server
¾
Open the Video streaming dialogue window
by clicking on Common settings >
Video streaming.
First of all set in the Mode field the protocol and
the encryption you wish to use to send the data
packets (MPEG or RTP/MPV). At the same time
decide whether the data should be sent to an
arbitrary number (multicast) or only to one specific
(unicast) receivers.
If Mode = off, the Streaming Server function is
inactive. The DIS will not send any video or audio
data via the network.
9.3.2
Protocol and encryption
MPEG
The DIS records while sending the recorded video/audio stream to the network.
The data are sent in the form of a pure stream (without protocol) and with encryption under
the MPEG2 program stream standard.
RTP/MPV
The DIS records while sending the recorded video stream to the network. In contrast to
MPEG, however, the audio data cannot be sent.
NOTE
Even if the DIS records the data with sound, the audio signal
will not be sent if RPT/MPV is set.
The data will be sent using the RTP protocol which optimizes the synchronization of the
data packets at the receiver.
The data will be encrypted using the MPEG2 standard (MPEG Video).
RTP implementation is based on the following standards:
RFC3550
(RTP Transport Protocol for Real-Time Applications)
RFC3551
(RTP Profile for Audio and Video Conferences with Minimal Control)
RFC2250
(RTP Payload Format for MPEG1/MPEG2 Video)
9.3.3
Multicast / unicast
If a Mode with Multicast is selected, the undirected video and audio stream will be fed into
the network.
In this case the data packets will have the multicast IP address and the port of the sender
(server). The potential receiver (client) will only accept these packages if the same port is
configured to receive and it knows the IP address of the server.
