5.3.8. Spanning Tree & Rapid Spanning Tree Parameters
STP, Spanning Tree Protocol is a network protocol offers secured network topologies and avoids traffic loop within bridged LAN.
Spanning Tree Protocol is specified in the IEEE 802.1D standard.
Rapid Spanning Tree Protocol is specified in the IEEE 802.1D-2004 standard.
Enable:
The RING is enabled if this parameter is ON. RING or redundant topologies are possible.
This parameter can be disabled in simple topologies, such as bus. The other parameters of this menu are ignored if this parameter is disabled.
Protocol:
Choose STP or RSTP.
Bridge Priority:
This parameter defines the priority of the equipment: the equipment having the lower value is promoted as Root.
Note: the RSTP mode isn’t compatible with STP networks.
