2.8.9 USER SWITCH DETECT
This sets the type of switch the Omni2 expects to be connected to the User Switch Jack.
The programmable options are On and Off.
If set to On, the Omni2 will expect a switch with a 220 Ohm resistor connected in series with its contacts and a 270 Ohm
resistor connected across its contacts to be connected to the User Switch Jack, so will be able to detect both open- and short-
circuits in the switch or its wiring. If such conditions are detected, a trip will occur.
NOTE (HP, IN)
To maximize the error-checking capability, the resistors must be fitted as physically close as possible to the switch contacts.
If set to Off, the Omni2 will not check for errors in the external circuitry connected to the User Switch Jack and a standard
normally-closed external switch can be used.
WARNING (HP, IN)
For a truly fail-safe system, Curtiss-Wright recommend that a User Switch incorporating a resistor network is fitted. Curtiss-
Wright accept no liability for losses of any kind arising from the use of any other switch.
2.8.10 9-WAY SID SWITCH DETECT
This sets the type of switches the Omni2 expects to be connected to pins 1 – 4 and 6 of the 9-Way SID ports.
The programmable options are On and Off.
If set to On, the Omni2 will expect switches with 220 Ohm resistors connected in series with their contacts and 270 Ohm
resistors connected across their contacts to be connected to pins 1 – 4 and 6 of the 9-Way SID ports, and so will be able to
detect both open- and short-circuits in the switches and their wiring. If such conditions are detected, a trip will occur.
