REPLACING SOLENOID VALVES (REPAIR)
The solenoid valves control the switching of the inlet banks and on the 571 series, it controls the switching of the delivery regulators.
The solenoid valves connect to the circuit board on the inside of the door. If it is necessary to change the solenoid valves on the
CONCOA Medical IntelliSwitch, follow these steps:
1.
Close all inlet valves and vent entire system of gas.
2.
Cycle bank select button several times to vent solenoid valve cavity of gas.
3.
UNPLUG UNIT!
4.
Open door by loosening the four screws holding it to the cabinet.
5.
Locate the solenoid valves to be replaced, see figure 31 – items 6,& 7.
6.
Remove appropriate solenoid valve connectors from circuit board, see figure 33, on inside of door.
7.
Remove appropriate solenoid valve connectors from the solenoid valves, see figure 41.
Figure 41
8.
With zero pressure on entire system, turn knurled section of solenoid valves to be replaced counter-clockwise slowly.
Listen for any hissing – indication of gas pressure – STOP if you hear any pressure and vent system completely before
continuing.
9.
Continue to turn thumb screws completely out and then gently pull upward to unseat the solenoid valve o-rings.
10.
Unthread the red tubing tee and elbow connectors from the top of the solenoid valves.
11.
With a hex key, remove the solenoid valve bases from the aluminum block by turning counter-clockwise.
CAUTION
Care should be used to avoid scratching the top surface of the blue blocks. This surface serves
as a seating surface for the solenoid valves.
12.
Hand start the new bases from the new solenoid valves into the blue block.
13.
Snug-up the bases with a hex key.
14.
Thread on red tubing connectors to the top of the new solenoid valves – until tight.
15.
Carefully insert the new solenoid valves into their bases and press down slightly to allow knurled thumb screws to start.
16.
Tighten knurled thumb screws.
17.
Re-attach solenoid valve connectors to the solenoid valves, see figure 41, and circuit board, see figure 33.
18.
Re-apply AC power to the system.
19.
Turn gas back on – slowly.
20.
Leak check replaced solenoid valve bases and knurled joint – do not get connectors wet.
21.
Close front door and re-secure it to the cabinet.
