1.1 Overview

The CDM ‐ 800 Gateway Router ( Figure 1 ‐ 1 ) is a point ‐ to ‐ multipoint router. It serves as the “hub” or
local site equipment component of Comtech EF Data’s Advanced VSAT Series group of products.
Comtech’s Advanced VSAT Series group of products ( Figure 1 ‐ 2 ) are designed to support latency ‐
sensitive applications such as cellular backhaul over satellite, Universal Service Obligation (USO)
networks, corporate networks, Internet Service Providers, and other similar hub ‐ and ‐ spoke
network environments that require high ‐ performance, high ‐ quality E1 and IP transport with
“always ‐ on” availability.
