1. Place a drain pan under the fuel filter.
2. Lift the passenger-side seat.
3. Locate the valve on the underside of the filter. Turn the valve clockwise until water begins to stream from the
filter
(Figure 16-9, Page 16-10) .
4. Drain the water until it changes color. When the fluid changes color, fuel has begun to escape. See following
WARNING and NOTE.
WARNING
• Clean up spilled fuel. Keep sparks and flames away from the vehicle and service area. Failure to heed
this warning could result in an explosion or fire, resulting in severe personal injury or death.
NOTE: Dispose of water according to the environmental laws and regulations for your area.
5. Close the valve. Rotate the valve counterclockwise until it is firmly sealed.
Draining Water from Fuel Filter – From late-2011 Model Year
Water should be drained from the fuel filter daily. The fuel filter is mounted to the chassis under the passenger-side
seat
(Figure 16-10) .
1. Lift the passenger-side seat.
2. Position a pan under the fuel filter.
3. Locate the valve (1) at the bottom of the filter and attach a drain hose to the spout.
4. Turn the valve in the direction shown until water begins to stream from the filter.
5. Drain water into the pan until the fluid changes color (to fuel). See following WARNING.
WARNING
• Clean up spilled fuel. Keep sparks and flames away from the vehicle and service area. Failure to heed
this warning could result in an explosion or fire, resulting in severe personal injury or death.
6. Close the valve by rotating it in the opposite direction until the valve is firmly sealed and detach the drain hose.
