Remove the ring gear. Retain dowel pin from between the ring gear and differential case for reassembly.

Separate the differential gear case housing. If necessary, reinstall two of the hex bolts (removed previ-
ously in step 9.2.) into the differential gear unit and, while holding the unit slightly above the work area,
lightly tap the bolt heads
