Chapter 8 Configuring VLANs
VLANs in the VTP Database
Beginning in privileged EXEC mode, follow these steps to delete a VLAN on the
switch:
Assigning Static-Access Ports to a VLAN
By default, all ports are static-access ports assigned to VLAN 1, which is the
default management VLAN. If you are assigning a port on a cluster member
switch to a VLAN, first log in to the member switch by using the privileged EXEC
rcommand command. For more information on how to use this command, refer
to the Catalyst 2900 Series XL and Catalyst 3500 Series XL Command Reference.
Beginning in privileged EXEC mode, follow these steps to assign a port to a
VLAN in the VTP database:

vlan database
Enter VLAN configuration mode.
Step 2
no vlan vlan-id
Remove the VLAN by using the VLAN ID.
Step 3
exit
Update the VLAN database, propagate it throughout the
administrative domain, and return to privileged EXEC
mode.
Step 4
show vlan brief
Verify the VLAN removal.

Step 1
configure terminal
Enter global configuration mode.
Step 2
interface interface
Enter interface configuration mode, and define the
interface to be added to the VLAN.
Step 3
switchport mode access
Define the VLAN membership mode for this port.
Step 4
switchport access vlan 3
Assign the port to the VLAN.
Step 5
exit
Return to privileged EXEC mode.
Step 6
show interface interface-id
switchport
Verify the VLAN configuration.
In the display, check the Operation Mode, Access Mode
VLAN, and the Priority for Untagged Frames fields.
