5.1. Cisco hardware installation
5.1.1. Installing the Cisco FM1200 Volo
Environmental rating and unit roles
The Cisco FM1200 Volo (model number FM1200V-HW) is a wireless radio
transceiver unit.
The hardware is contained in an outdoor-rated metal enclosure that can
be easily mounted on poles or walls.
The Cisco FM1200 Volo can operate in any of the following networking
roles:
• As a point-to-point wireless bridge (see
for details).
• As a single radio unit within a wireless mesh network (see
network architecture” (page 18)
for details).
• As a

Installation hardware
Metal clamps are supplied as part of the installation package, to allow
mounting of the unit on utility poles. Refer to the Cisco FM1200 Volo
installation instructions for details.
Antenna staging kit
The Cisco FM1200 Volo installation package includes a staging kit that
allows you to test the vertical alignment of the unit's built-in antenna. The
unit can be mounted on utility poles using plastic cable ties or metal hose
clamps.
Removable bottom housing
The unit features a removable, water-tight bottom housing. The bottom
housing is equipped with an NPT-1 standard-thread cable gland. The
cable gland can house a dual-cable rubber seal that can accept two
shielded Ethernet cables. Three different pre-cut rubber seals are
provided to accept Ethernet cables of different diameter.
