A setup utility automatically launches the first time you access the switch and guides you
through the basic configuration. For instructions about how to configure the switch and check

Removing and Installing Components
The Cisco MDS 9148S switch is shipped with two field-replaceable power supplies. Each power supply
includes a fixed fan. The Cisco MDS 9148S switch has two field-replaceable fan modules.

Warning
Hazardous voltage or energy is present on the backplane when the system is operating. Use
caution when servicing.

Caution
During this procedure, wear grounding wrist straps to avoid ESD damage to the switch.
Note
The Cisco MDS 9148S Switch is only supported for operation with both power supplies and both fan
modules installed, and with all fans working.
With two power supplies installed, if one power supply fails, the system can continue to function
normally on a single healthy power supply. However, the failed power supply should be replaced as soon
as possible to provide redundancy.
The fan modules are required to ensure proper cooling of the switches.
