43- REMOTE CONTROL
Note:
Feature available from HMI version 1.20 of the device.
The
SVGm
provides the option to measure the active and reactive power at a remote point using a
power analyzer and the communication infrastructure.
In some installations, it is not possible to take a reading using current transformers at the connection
point to the grid. To solve this problem,
Remote control
mode can be used in installations where a fast
response is not necessary; for example, installations where the goal of reactive power compensation is
to avoid a penalty on the electric bill.
The response time of the
SVGm
in this mode is approximately 15 seconds, compared to the cycle-to-cy-
cle compensation of the
SVGm
, when measuring using current transformers.
In this mode, the
SVGm
checks the active and reactive power parameters using a
CIRCUTOR
meter or
power analyzer and calculates the compensation targets based on the parameters measured.
The analyzer has to be placed at the point of common coupling (PCC) or billing point. Using any of the
device’s communication buses (Modbus/RTU on RS-485, or Modbus/TCP), the
SVGm
will communi-
cate with the measuring device.
This mode overcomes the distance limitation between the measuring point and the installation point,
with this distance now depending only on the communication technology used.
44- TIME PROGRAMMER
Note:
Feature available from HMI version 1.20 of the device.
The reactive power compensation targets can vary depending on the day and time, as is the case with
the reactive power penalty applied in many countries. In these situations, there may be time periods
when capacitive reactive power is allowed, and other time periods in which it is penalized.
In order to work in these environments, the device offers the option of scheduling hourly compensation
targets depending on the day and time.
Two working configurations are available: the main and alternative configurations (programmed using
the
Time programmer
screens).
In alternative mode, you can choose between reactive power compensation in
Mode 1
,
Mode 2
, apply
a fixed reactive power (
Fixed Q
), or turn the device off to reduce its consumption. For each day of the
week, you can select the time period when the alternative configuration is applied.
To determine the time accurately, the device must have an Internet connection, which it will use to
query an NTP time server and keep its internal clock updated.
