th is supplem ent with the exception of the following:
UNIVERSAL JOINTS
IMPROVED 1800 SERIES
UNIVERSAL JOINTS
The im proved design incorporates the follow ­
ing changes which w ill in c rea se the s e r v ic e life
of the joint:
1. A nylon thrust w asher has been added b e ­
tw een the end of the trunnion and the bearing cap
to reduce the e ffects of end thrust which is en­
countered during high rpm o v er-th e -r o a d se r v ic e
(see fig . 1).
2. One-way p la stic check v a lv es are now in­
se rte d in each end of the trunnion (s e e fig. 1). This
feature helps retain lubricant at the outer bearing
area to prevent a drainback of warm , m ore liquid
lubricant, to the center of the trunnion. The drain-
back condition could occur when the veh icle is
brought to a stop and rem ains for a p eriod of tim e
after extended, high speed, high rpm u sage.
