TV Linkage A djustm ent — G asoline Engine

m ents. Note the key le tte r s in the follow ing text
r e fe r s to fig u res 7 and 8.
1. Apply parking brake and block v e h ic le 's
driving w h eels.
2. To fa c ilita te installation of TV Linkage
Adjustment Gauge (J-23739) disconnect manual
range se le c to r linkage at tra n sm issio n .
3. D isconnect TV rod (I) from TV lev er (G).
A lso , disconnect TV le v e r return spring (H) from
a
TV le v e r .
4. D isconnect link a ssem b ly (K) from le v e r
f
(M).
5. With carburetor throttle le v e r (J) at IDLE
p osition and le v e r a ssem b ly (M) held against stop
pin (N), adjust the length of link assem b ly (K) so
that it fr e e ly en ters le v e r (M).
6. D isconnect rod (A) from lev er assem b ly
(M) and a lso disconnect throttle return spring (D).
7. D e p r e ss a c celera to r pedal (F) until detent
button (E) is co m p ressed (THRU-DETENT). Ample
clea ra n ce m ust e x ist between the pedal and floor
to a ssu re com plete m ovem ent of the TV linkage
to the THRU-DETENT position . If n e c e ssa r y , ad
justm ent of the detent button (E) is accom plished
by relocatin g the two jam nuts located on the detent
button a ssem b ly .
8. With a cc e le ra to r pedal just touching detent
button (E) hold the throttle le v e r (J) in full throttle
p osition and adjust length of rod assem b ly (A) for
fr e e -e n tr y into lev er (M). Connect rod (A) to lev er
(M).
9. Connect throttle return spring (D).
10. In stall gauge (J-23739) as shown in figure
3. Note gauge is in stalled on manual se le c to r nut.
11. Hold TV le v e r (G) full counterclockw ise
against the tra n sm issio n internal stop. Align the
"STOP" lin e on gauge with forw ard edge of TV
le v e r . If n e c e ssa r y , rep osition gauge on manual
se le c to r nut to obtain alignm ent. U se a m irror if
unable to view d irect'y.
12. Move TV lev ?r (G) fu ll clock w ise as shown
in figure 4. TV le v e r should be aligned with "THRU-
DETENT" lin e. This step is a check to be su re no
internal condition e x is ts in the tra n sm issio n that
would prevent full m ovem ent of the TV le v e r .
NOTE: A ll MT S e r ie s tra n sm issio n s covered
by th is supplem ent are of the Long Stroke design
and TV le v e r tra v el m ust be the sa m e as shown in
fig u re 4. C orrect any internal tra n sm issio n condi
tion, if n e c e ssa r y , b efore proceeding.
13. R econnect TV rod (I) to tr a n sm issio n TV
le v e r (G).
14. With engine "OFF" and a c c e le ra to r pedal
at "IDLE" position, the forward edge of TV le v e r
should be aligned with the "IDLE" lin e on gauge a s
