Place <Sisc portion of w heel on floor
with rim gutter up. A p ply tire with
valve pointing in direction desired.
Place gide ring in position with oper
ating notch located between two em
b o s sin g s (p o in t B ) a p p r o x im a te ly
three inches from valve, on either side.
DEMOUNTING
CA UTION: Make certain tire is com
p letely (Reflated. To loosen tire bead
fro m sid e r in g , d r iv e cu rv ed b ead -
loosening end of above recommended
rim tool, or a larger tire tool, between
ring and bead. Pry downward on bead
and repeat th is operation around the
rin g until bead is loose.
The two cutaw ay portions opposite
each other in the inner diam eter o f the
ring (points A ) are placed so as to
span the rim gutter. A t point C,
opposite valve, force h alf o f ring into
the gu tter as far as possible using
hand and rim m allet.
Remove ring by putting straigh t end
o f rim tool into notch in ring located
between em bossings (point B ). Push
ring downward at point opposite oper
a tin g notch. Force tool handle down
ward as illustrated, causing ring to
disengage from rim gutter. Continue
o p e r a tio n , p r y in g a w a y fro m rim
gutter with flat end o f tool until free.
Insert straight end of rim tool in
operating notch (point B ), then pull
in direction indicated by arrow. R e
tain pressure with tool and strike ring
downward with m allet a t point be
tween tool slot and cutaw ay portion,
thereby engaging ring over rim gut
ter at that point. Rem ove tool and
strike additional blows progressively
toward other cutaw ay portion un til
entire toe of ring has passed over the
rim gutter. Check seating of ring as
shown below and inflate tire to recom
m ended pressure.
Turn assem bly over and un seat tire
bead from back flange in sam e manner
as loosening bead from side rin g in
first step. Stand tire up and remove
rim base.
N O T E : It is unnecessary to free the side ring from the tire bead if tire is to be removed for tube repair and im
m ed iately replaced. S im p ly loosen bead from back

p erm an en t) flange as in third dem ounting step. T h en turn the
assem bly over and remove ring, w ith tire attached, as in second dem ounting step.
S A F E T Y P R E C A U T I O N S :
Before inflating tire, be sure side
ring has com pletely cleared the g u t
ter of rim base. In this position the
side ring can be depressed by hand
or will yield to a ligh t hammer blow.
DO NOT IN FL A T E IF SID E RING
DOES NOT MOVE FREELY.
