Installation and operation

4.4

Adjusting and using the

front pointer

The front pointer for following the cutting line is loosely

fixed at the joint cutter’s frame. It enables the operator

to cut precisely on a marked line (fig. 2.1). If the pointer

has been bent during transport, it can be aligned as

follows:

WARNING!

Danger of injury! Shut the motor off.

Disconnect the joint cutter from the mains

supply by unplugging the power plug. Secure the

joint cutter against unintentional starting or rolling

away.

–  Mount the diamond saw blade and leave the blade

guard open.

–  Stretch out a cord or place an alignment bar parallel

to the diamond saw blade and align the pointer

accordingly (fig. 4.11).

–  Close the blade guard.

Dry cutting

WARNING!

Only carry out dry cutting operation with

sufficient protection against dust (per-

sonal protection devices, dust suction, ….)!

According to the Accident Prevention & Insurance As-

sociation’s regulations the forming of fine dusts which

are hazardous to health must be prevented as far as

possible.

ATTENTION!

Cutting tools (diamond saw blades) that

are designed for wet cutting only, may

never be operated without water in a dry cutting

process. This heavily reduces the tool’s life time

and loss of segments will inevitably occur.

Make sure that always sufficient dust is removed

from the tool (diamond saw blade)!

In case of formation of dust the suction capacity must

be increased! This will cool down the saw blade (dia-

mond segments) and clear the cut (joint).

ATTENTION!

Only use suction devices (professional-

type vacuum cleaners) in dry cutting

which are designed for this kind of dust and quan-

tity to prevent blockage of the suction system.

Observe the essential connecting specifications, see

chapter 1!

ATTENTION!

Pass the suction hose to the blade guard

in such a way that any damage caused by

the saw blade or tripping over is excluded.

WARNING!

It is prohibited to convert this machine to

do wet cutting and to operate the

CF-12.4 E-TR with a water tank mounted above the

electric motor!

The electric motor’s grade of insulation does not allow

a water tank to be mounted abover the motor.

The machine frame of the CF-12.4 series of joint cut-

ters serves as well for mounting a gasoline or diesel

motor (CF-12.4 B and CF-12.4 D). Alternatively to the

pressu-rized water supply the joint cutters with combus-

tion motors can be equipped with a water tank (above

the motor) (refer to the corresponding operating man-

ual). The mounting devices for the water tank console

are not required for the CF-12.4 E-TR (fig. 4.12). The

efforts to remove the console would be too high and

furthermore they provide additional ballast for the joint

cutter’s running smoothness.
