Formatting a Memory Card
Before

memory card for the first time, yo

need to
format it. Once yo

format a memory card, yo

ill not need to
format it each time yo

se it.
Formatting a memory card that already has files on it

ill delete
its contents.
IMPORTANT!
•
Note that data deleted

y a memory card format operation
cannot

e reco
v
ered. Do
ub
le-check to make s
u
re that yo
u
really
w
ant to delete all the contents of the memory card
b
efore proceeding
w
ith the format operation.
•

en if the file data on a memory card is protected (page
1), formatting the card

ill delete all its data.

se the camera to format a memory card.
Formatting a memory card on a comp

ter and then

sing it

camera. In the case of an SD memory card or SDHC
memory card, formatting on a comp

1.
Load the memory card you want to format into
the camera.
2.
Turn on the camera and press [MENU].
3.
On the “Set Up” tab, select “Format” and then
press [
X
].
4.
Use [
S
] and [
T
] to select “Format” and then
press [SET] to start formatting.
After formatting is complete, enter the PLAY mode and
check to make s
u
re the “There are no files.” message
appears on the monitor screen.

To exit the format operation
w
itho
u
t formatting, select
“Cancel”.
