2 Example
–
Entering a Cable Strip Program
The following is an example of the steps required to enter a cable strip program.
1. In this example, the cable that we are programming the strip operation for is an
RG-58 type cable. The required strip specifications are shown below in Figure 4-
4. See the individual sections above for additional data field programming
information.

2. The first step is to determine the correct wire guide bushing size. Measuring the
O.D. of the cable with a set of dial calipers, the average measurement is in the
range of 0
.190” – 0.192” (4.83 – 4.88 mm). Since there needs to be a minimal
amount of clearance between the cable and wire guide bushing, add 0.003
” –
0
.005” to the measured average cable diameter.
In this example, we try a wire guide bushing size of 0
.196” by sliding it along a
length of the cable. The bushing should slide freely along the length of the cable,
but there should not be excessive side-to-side movement between the cable and
the bushing. The better fit the wire guide bushing has to the cable O.D., the
better the strip quality will be. In this case, the 0.196
” bushing is a good fit, so
this is the size we will use.
3. Press the
key. The Model 75 will enter edit mode and the edit screen will
be displayed, with the blue data highlight cursor in the first
STRIP
length position.
4. If the number of steps shown is not correct, position the blue data highlight cursor
over the
STEP
field and press
. The Model 75 “Step Selection Screen” will
be displayed. Point the arrow to the desired number of steps and press
.
5. Verify that the programming units (
IN
or
MM
) is set to
IN
. If not, position the blue
data highlight cursor over the
UNITS
field and press
until
IN
is displayed.
The display will be reconfigured for inch units.
6. Position the blue data highlight cursor over the
GUIDE
field and enter the wire
guide bushing size as determined in step 2 above (0.196”). The
