READER PROBLEMS
Symptoms: Does not read cards, no audible beep, no LED
1.
Make sure that credentials are compatible with the reader. (e.g. HID
HID card).
2.
Measure the voltage input at the reader. Make sure the polarity is correct.
If voltage is not present, check the fuses on the CP40 (near reader ports).
3.
If the voltage is correct, check the wiring and check that the switches on
the
Reader Type DIP Switch (S5)
have been correctly set for Wiegand
input or Magstripe (depending on the type of readers used).
4.
If the above steps are correct, connect the reader on a short cable at the
CP40. If the reader works properly, then there could be a problem with
the cable.
Symptoms: Reader is in Tamper Alarm
1.
If both readers show tamper, most likely the cabinet tamper input is open.
2.
If one reader is in tamper, then check the wiring to make sure the D0 wire
is not grounded at GND on the board.
Symptoms: Reader Transmits
Illegal System Code
Message
1.
Ensure that your credentials have correct system code (first five numbers
on the card). Make sure this number is the same as your Maestro software
(Go to Help, then About Maestro, click on Details)
2.
Check the D0 and D1 wires, to make sure they are not reversed.
3.
Check pins 3 and 6 on the
Reader Type DIP Switch (S5)
to make sure
you have Forward option selected.
EXCEPTION:
HID insert readers.
4.
Make sure that the panel memory was cleared and panel fully downloaded
(see the
New Installation Instruction
section).
5.
If the problem is intermittent, make sure that the shield of the reader is
connected to pin 8 of the reader port. Also ensure that the data lines (D0
and D1) are not twisted in twisted pair.
