Troubleshooting
COMMUNICATION PROBLEMS
Symptoms: No communication to any panels
1.
Under
View >Communications
, check the communications statistics in
the Maestro software. Check that the POLLS count is incrementing for
each panel programmed. If the panel is not being polled, you must
program the panel into the system. (Note: only on direct COM port
communication)
2.
Under
Edit >System >Communications
, check that the COM port being
used on the PC is assigned to the trunk in the Maestro software. When
you change or assign a COM port, you need to restart the Maestro
Software. Check other applications, since COM port might be occupied.
3.
Under
Commands >Communications
, perform a Restore
Communications command from the Maestro software. A
system
initialization
message should be received from each panel.
4.
If you still unable to restore communications, check the wiring from the
CLAUSB or CanLan to the first panel. Make sure that jumpers and DIP
switches on the CLAUSB are set up properly. Double-check the CanLan
setup through CanLan configuration software to make sure proper
operation mode is selected and IP setup is correct. CanLan “Poll” count
requires firmware version 7 for CanLan advanced diagnostics software.
5.
Check the panel addresses. If two panels have the same address, conflicts
will occur and cause communication problems.
Symptoms: No communication to some panels
1.
Double-check the RS-485 wiring and jumper settings on the panels.
2.
Make sure that each panel has a unique address.
3.
Make sure that the panel was programmed properly in the Maestro.
4.
Double-check the power input at those panels.
5.
If all attempts to restore communication fail, please contact Cansec
Technical Support.
