4. Connecting to the Com-
puter/Power on
Precautions
Use only the packaged AC adapter.
Connect the scanner while the scanner
power is turned off.
Be sure to log on to the OS (Windows)
with administrator privileges.
1) Check that the ADF connector is fully
inserted.
2) Insert the AC adapter plug into the scan-
ner.
3) Insert the power plug into a power outlet.
4) Using the USB cable, connect the com-
puter and the scanner.
Note:
The shape of the power plug differs
depending on the sales region.

5) With the computer connected, turn the
scanner power on. The power indicator
goes on and message “Ready” appears
on the display panel.
Note:
Be sure that all the necessary software
has been installed on the computer
and the OS (Windows) has been
started up.

Note that there are two types of “Ready”
messages.
A:

Message “A” indicates that the scanner
is recognized and ready to scan.
Message “B” indicates that the scanner
has started up but is not ready to scan
because the computer does not recog-
nize it.
Check the connection to the computer
unless message “A” appears.
