Reset of the ROI is done by command ROI0;0;[max h-resolution];[max v-resolution]
When selecting a new ROI, the frame period is checked. If the frame period is too small, it is set to the
minimum value allowed.
NOTE: In 2, 4 and 8 tap output, the camera the values of l and l+w are rounded to the nearest integer
factor of 16 pixels. In 3 tap output, the values of l and l+w are rounded to the nearest integer factor of
48 pixels. When 10 tap output is selected, the values of l and l+w are rounded to the nearest integer
factor of 80 pixels (10 tap is not available in the Q-4A150). As a result, the maximum obtainable
horizontal resolution will be 2000 pixels in 10 tap and 2016 pixels in 3 tap for the Q-2A340 and
Q-4A180, for the Q-12A65 this is 4080 pixels.
NOTE: In case of a color camera, the values of t and h will be rounded down to the nearest multiple of
2 rows.
NOTE: In case of the Q-12A65 camera, the values of t and h can only be set with values a multiple of 4
rows.
NOTE: Automatic centering of the ROI:
If l = -1 the ROI will be centered in horizontal direction.
If t = -1 the ROI will be centered in vertical direction.
if -1 is used for centering the ROI, command ROI? will not return -1, but the actual ROI value.
Binning 9.2.8.
In certain circumstances it might be preferable to sum 2 or more pixels. This process is called binning.
If two or more pixels are binned, the combination of those pixels can be regarded as one larger “bin-
pixel”.
If the consequences of binning are known, it can be determined whether binning is preferred.
Binning at the Quartz camera is performed ‘off chip’. This means two or more adjecent pixels are
digitally summed. The result is then divided by the binning factor. Binning at this method does not
improve sensitivity.
