Managing Address Forwarding Tables
Cajun P220G Switch Configuration and Operation Guide

Each VLAN you define creates a separate version of the switch address forwarding table.
When these address tables become large, they may begin to use address space
inefficiently.
If you leave the switch in its default state, the address table adjusts for growth
automatically. However, this condition leads to a few seconds of flooding packets when
the address table reconfigures. If you want to manually control when this flood event
occurs, complete the following steps:
1. Select Table Configuration from the menu on the left side of the Web Agent. The
Address Forwarding Table Configuration screen displays (Figure 5-1).
2. Change the Auto-Sizing Utilization Threshold in the Address Table Parameters
table, if you just want to cause the table reconfiguration to occur at a different level
of usage efficiency.
Note: The default value of 40% is recommended for most applications. Raising the
value might cause the table to be relearned more frequently, and will make
address space usage more efficient.
3. Select one of the Instance IDs from the first column in the Instance Table
Information table on the display to achieve finer control of particular address
tables. The Address Table Instance screen displays (Figure 5-2):
