To manage the switch using an SNMP manager (Element Manager or HP Openview, for
example), you must set certain SNMP values on the switch. To set the SNMP values,
complete the following steps:
1. Select SNMP Administration from menu on the left side of the Web Agent. The
SNMP Community Management screen displays (Figure 2-13):

2. Click Create. The Create SNMP Community screen displays (Figure 2-14):

3. Enter a community name in the Community String field. This string serves as a
password that you enter at the network management station. It provides the level
of access to the switch that you specify on this screen.
4. Enter an IP Address in the IP Address field if you want the switch to send SNMP
responses only to a station with that IP address. This helps provide security when
you use SNMP to manage the network from a single workstation.
Note: If you do not want to specify a specific IP address, select the Any option.
