Cajun P220G Switch Configuration and Operation Guide

This chapter explains how to:

❒

Download new operational code to the switch inband over the network.

❒

Save your configuration information to a TFTP (Trivial File Transfer Protocol)
server.

The following steps list the process for downloading new operational code. Each step is
discussed in detail in the following sections:

1. Identify a TFTP server on your network.

2. Copy the new operational code file to the TFTP server.

3. Identify the location of the TFTP server using the FEPROM Update screen.

4. Select the appropriate download location.

5. Start the download.

6. Reboot the switch after the download successfully completes.

To prepare for the download procedure, complete the following procedures:

1. Make sure that you have a TFTP server available to download from:

a. UNIX workstations generally have this service included. See your workstation

documentation for more information.

b. Windows-based systems do not come with free TFTP services. If you are

working in a Windows 95 or Window NT environment, and do not have a TFTP
server available, check http://www.walusoft.co.uk/ for an evaluation copy of a
server.
