To verify if the connection with the reader has been established, check the green dot on the bottom left side of 
the  sidebar.  In  the 

READER  INFORMATION

  box  you  can  find  information  on  reader  model,  serial  number  and 

firmware release:

Place a tag on the reader, click on 

Start Inventory

 and see the tag information displayed in the main window:
