2.5.2 Jumper Settings
Refer to Figure 2-5 when setting jumpers. Please note that the backup
battery jumper is labeled JP6 and the Clear to Send jumper is labeled JP5
on the component board.
Enabling The NVRAM Backup Battery With The JP6 Jumper
Use JP6 to enable or disable the backup battery. The battery supplies
power to NVRAM and the real time clock and calender when the
TRBMIM-T is not installed in and drawing power from the MMAC and
also when the TRBMIM-T is being reset in the MMAC.
•
To enable the battery, put the jumper over pins 2 and 3.
•
To disable the battery (recommended if the module is to be stored for
up to a year), or if you want to clear NVRAM, put the jumper over pins
1 and 2.
When clearing NVRAM, wait five seconds before re-enabling the
battery to ensure that all system parameter settings have been cleared
from NVRAM.
!
C AUT IO N
Wear a properly grounded Electric Static Discharge (ESD)
wriststrap when positioning jumper sleeves.
NOTE
The module is shipped from the factory with the battery
charged but disabled. It is recommended that you enable the
backup battery before installing the TRBMIM-T.
!
C AUT IO N
Disabling the battery clears NVRAM; you lose all parameter
settings you specified in Local Management such as IP
addresses and FNB and bridge configurations, and the
TRBMIM-T reverts to its default settings. See the
TRBMIM/TRBMIM-T Local Management User’s Guide for
information about default management and bridge settings.
