INTRODUCTION

 

1.1  ABOUT THIS MANUAL

 

This manual is for system administrators responsible for conÞguring, 
monitoring, and maintaining the SmartSTACK Ethernet ELS10-27TX (also 
referred to as ELS10-27). You should have a familiarity with networking 
concepts and principles. In addition, a basic understanding of SNMP is 
helpful.

Some SmartSTACK Ethernet ELS10-27 conÞgurations can only be done 
using an SNMP-based Network Management System (NMS). Where 
applicable, this manual provides instructions for using the Local Console 
Manager (LCM) to perform basic conÞguration. Where it is not possible to 
use LCM, general instructions and guidelines applicable to most NMSs 
are provided.

The contents of each chapter are described below.
