Maintenance and inspection 

This  chapter  shall  make  the  system  user  and  authorised  system  personnel  familiar  with  the  proper 

maintenance  and  the  basics  for  proper  testing  and  inspection  of  the  door  system  in  conformance  with 

guidelines.  

When maintaining and inspecting the door system, the safety information and warnings in chapters  2 Safety 

and 3 Other dangers must absolutely be followed! 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

9.1 

Basics for testing power-operated doors 

9.1.1  Safety requirements 

The safety requirements for power-operated doors are regulated in the following regulations: 

 

2006/42/EC Machinery directive 

 

2004/108 EC EMC directive 

 

ASR A1.7 Technical rules for doors in workplaces 

 

DIN  EN  13241-1  Product  standards  for  doors  part  1:  products  without  fire  and  smoke  protection 

properties 

 

Regulation 305/2011 on the marketing of construction products 

9.1.2  Annual testing / Technical rule ASR A1.7 

According to section 10.2 of the Technical Rule for  Doors in  Workplaces  ASR  A1.7, power-operated  doors 

must  be  tested  by  a  qualified  professional  before  first  being  put  into  service  and  at  least  once  annually. 

This testing should not be equated with maintenance.  

ASR  A1.7  requires  that  the  annual  testing  is  performed  by  a  qualified  individual.  The  corresponding  expert 

knowledge of the people tasked with this guarantees that the system is tested properly. 

Evidence of the testing should be kept, which is to be continuously posted to the test book.  

9.1.3  Qualified individual 

Qualified individuals are people that possess sufficient knowledge in the area of power-operated doors based 

on their professional training and experience, and they are familiar enough with all applicable national work 

protection  regulations,  accident  prevention  regulations,  guidelines  and  generally  accepted  technical  rules

The  maintenance  work  on  the  system  should  fundamentally  only  be  performed  by  authorised  service 

personnel of Butzbach GmbH Industrietore. 

The authorised service personnel have a service and maintenance manual.  

However, the maintenance and inspection activities described in section 9.2.1 can be performed 

by 

authorised operating personnel
