6 Maintenance

6.1

General instructions

Before making any kind of maintenance operation it is compulsory to:

- De-energize the switchboard and put the modules that need maintenance in earth position

- Make sure that all the operations comply with safety standards and regulations for electrical

work.

- Before any access check that the three phases are earthed through a frontal window or by

using a safety voltage detector.

6.2

Maintenance program

During normal service the switchboards are almost maintenance-free. The frequency of ope-

rations and possible interventions are linked to the severity of service and to the ambient

conditions.

Below it is showed a maintenance program for a plant during its normal service in the ambient

humidity not more than 90% as an annual average and not more than 95% as a maximum

value. In harder ambient conditions, the program intervals should be more frequent.

Each year:

- Visually check the modules, equipment and auxiliaries.

- Make the normal operation inspections

Every three years:

- Measure the insulation resistance

- Clean all the isolating parts by means of a cloth and check the connections

- Clean and lubricate the electrical contacts of the load side earth switch.

- Clean and grease the mechanical kinematics of the load side earth switch

IMPORTANT:

The operating mechanisms of the switches and rotative switches do not need to be lubrica-

ted. In the normal service the modules do not need any particular maintenance. In case of

harder ambient conditions please consult SEL.
