the background map. With the default auto setting, Atlas creates a trail by
placing a dot (trail point) on the screen every time you change directions.
(The method used for creating a trail and the trail update rate can both be
adjusted in Advanced Mode. See Sec. 5 for
Trail Options
.)
In Easy Mode, this unit automatically creates a plot trail when turned on,
and this trail is automatically saved in memory when the unit is turned off.
Atlas continues recording the
same
trail until you "clear the trail," which
erases
the old trail and starts creation of a new trail.
NOTE:
Atlas can record up to 9,999 points per trail, which can be adjusted in
Advanced Mode. The default setting is a maximum of 2,000 points.
When trail length exceeds the maximum setting, the unit begins re-
cording the trail over itself.
In Advanced Mode, you can save and recall up to 10 different plot trails,
which can also be copied to your MMC for archiving.
Caution:
You also have the option of turning off trail recording in Advance
Mode. If the option is left turned off, it will cancel the automatic trail
creation feature in Easy Mode.
Displaying a Saved Trail
The trail is automatically displayed in Easy Mode by default. Trail display
can be selectively turned off and on only in Advanced Mode.
