t hrough t he w all or vert ically t hrough t he roof . Use a 3’’

(5.1 cm) reducer t o connect t o t he vent out let w hen using 3’’ (7.6 cm)
vent pipe. Apply proper cement at joint locat ions. Table 5 list s t he
maximum vent lengt hs f or t his w at er heat er using 2’’
(5.1 cm) vent pipe. If
possible, locat e t he w at er heat er so t hat t he vent ing lengt h and number of
elbow s are kept t o t he minimum dist ance necessary t o reach t he out side. If
t he inst allat ion requires vent ing lengt hs t hat exceed t he lengt hs list ed f or
2’’
(5.1 cm) vent pipe in Table 5 t hen use 3’’ (7.6 cm) vent pipe f or t he
vent connect or.
Table 6 list s t he vent ing dist ances allow ed w it h 3’’ (7.6 cm) diamet er vent
pipe. When venting with 3’’ (7.6 cm) vent pipe , use a 3’’ (7.6 cm) t o 2’’
(5.1 cm) reducer t o exit t hrough t he building w all w it h 2’’ (5.1 cm) vent
pipe. Use t he 2’’ (5.1 cm) vent t erminal supplied w it h t he w at er heat er t o
t erminat e on t he out side of t he building. If t he lengt h of t he 2’’ (5.1 cm)
needed t o go t hrough t he w all is great er t han 14’’ (35.6 cm) , use 3’’ (7.6
cm) vent pipe t o go t hrough t he w all and reduce t o 2’’ (5.1 cm) vent pipe
immediat ely af t er exit ing t he out side w all. Ref er t o t he vent ing illust rat ions
on t he f ollow ing pages. Make sure t he vent pipe t erminal is at least 1’’
(2.5
cm) aw ay f rom t he edge of t he w all.
