Venting System Condensation
Condensat e f ormat ion does not occur in all inst allat ions of pow er vent ed
w at er heat ers, but should be prot ect ed against on inst allat ions w here
condensat ion can f orm in t he vent ing syst em.
Format ion of condensat ion in t he vent ing syst em of Pow er Vent ed w at er
heat ers is dependent upon inst allat ion condit ions including, but not limit ed
t o:
ambient t emperat ure and humidit y of inst allat ion locat ion;
ambient t emperat ure and humidit y of vent ing space;
vent dist ance and slope;
and product usage.
In order t o ef f ect ively cont rol condensat e f rom adversely af f ect ing t he
mechanical component s of t he w at er heat er several met hods may be
employed:
1. For horizont al inst allat ions t he vent pipe can be inst alled w it h a
dow nw ard slope (not less t han 1/8"
(3 cm)
) and aw ay f rom t he
blow er.
2. In order t o prevent condensat e f rom draining back int o t he blow er
(vert ical or horizont al runs), an opt ional condensat e kit is available
as a service part (Condensat e kit , p/n 239-45875-00). A f act ory
supplied exhaust adapt er w it h drain out let mount s direct ly t o t he
blow er out let and is secured w it h t w o hose clamps, one t o t he
blow er and t he ot her t o t he vent pipe. Tubing is provided t o drain
any accumulat ed condensat e aw ay f rom t he w at er heat er and t o a
suit able drain. The kit comes complet e w it h inst ruct ions f or proper
inst allat ion.
