Appendix 13: How to Install the Drain Tube
A Drain Tube will assist the Panels to slowly drain from the supply pipe back to the pool automatically via the
return pipe when the pump is switched off.
Before beginning, please ensure you have:
Two (2) Grommets
Two (2) Header Barbs
One (1) 150mm (approx.) length of tube
To install the drain tube:
Step 1:
Mark the location of Drain Tube. The Drain Tube should be
installed between the supply and return pipes
approximately one metre above pump level
Step 2:
Drill an 8.5 mm hole in the PVC supply and return pipes in
the appropriate position and orientation
Step 3:
Ensure the drilled wad, swarf and burrs are removed to
prevent them from entering the system
Step 4:
Insert the rubber grommets into the holes tapered end first
Step 5:
lubricate and insert the short end of the header barbs into
the rubber grommets
Step 6:
Slide the two Collars over the collector tube with the lips towards the cut ends
Step 7:
Push the collector tube onto the barbs
Step 8:
Slide the collars over the tube and barbs
Please note:
Dipping the components in soapy water can make this process easier
