By voice:
1. Press and hold the button on the
steering wheel until Siri voice control is acti‐
vated on the iPhone.
2. Say the usual commands recognised by the
iPhone.

Turning CarPlay on/off
1. "MENU"
2. "All apps"
3. "Device manager"
4. If applicable, select the desired iPhone
and turn CarPlay on/off.
To use the iPhone without CarPlay, CarPlay
must be switched off.
Exiting CarPlay
To exit CarPlay without turning off CarPlay,
tap the icon on the control display.
CarPlay navigation
A CarPlay navigation destination in Apple Maps
can be transferred to the BMW navigation sys‐
tem. For this to work, route guidance must not
yet have been started in CarPlay.
Transferring the navigation destination back to
CarPlay is not possible.
Parallel route guidance via BMW and CarPlay
navigation is not possible.
1. If CarPlay route guidance is active:
press the button on the Controller.
2. Switch to the navigation application.

Principle
Android Auto enables certain functions of a com‐
patible smartphone to be operated by voice con‐
trol and iDrive.
General
Depending on the national-market version,
Android Auto may not be available. Contact a
Service Partner of the manufacturer or another
qualified Service Partner or a specialist workshop
for more detailed information.
Android Auto and the associated apps are provi‐
ded by the smartphone. The scope and content
depend on the device manufacturer and may
vary depending on the national-market version.
The following restrictions apply to a smartphone
connected via Android Auto:
▷ Not every app installed on the smartphone
can be operated via Android Auto.
▷ The smartphone cannot be paired as an addi‐
tional telephone.
▷ Only one further telephone can be connected
to the vehicle.
▷ Using Android Auto may incur mobile phone
costs. These costs are not included in the
cost of the optional equipment.
Operating requirements
The smartphone meets the prerequisite for a
wireless Android Auto connection.
The smartphone is connected to the vehicle and
Android Auto is selected as the connection
mode.
